At PetSmart, we offer a variety of services for our customers, including microchipping their dogs. How much does it cost to microchip a dog at PetSmart? Let’s take a look.
How Much Does it Cost to Microchip a Dog at PetSmart?
It costs between $59 and $69 to microchip a dog at PetSmart, depending on the size of the dog. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the animal’s skin between its shoulder blades. The process is quick, painless, and virtually risk-free.
Once the chip is implanted, it will be registered with the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). This system was created by the USDA to help track and trace animals in case of an animal health emergency.
In addition to being registered with NAIS, each chip also has a unique identification number that can be used to reunite lost animals with their owners.
